Sick..........and Tired

Why is it that when you have a simple cold or sinus yuk up north where the snow falls, it somehow doesn't feel nearly as bad as it does when you are in the Tropics? I have been fighting this "thing" now for two days, and can't seem to get comfortable, or even feel like walking the 40 or so feet out to the Sea. The worst part is, it's not even bad, I mean, someone looking at me might think I'm just tired. No runny nose, no sneezing, just a head that feels like it weighs about a thousand pounds, and a throat that feels like someone has been using 60 grade sandpaper on it for a couple of days. Food doesn't taste good. That may be the worst thing. The only thing that sounds remotely appealing to me is Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup, and I know from half a century of these things that the only reason that sounds good is because it's loaded with salt and that will feel oh so good on my scratched up throat. I can't decide if I will be hot or cold, so putting on jeans and a t-shirt seemed like the right thing to do this morning. Every fifteen minutes or so I go from freezing to being a heat source for an entire family. Can't take enough off, can't put enough on. Drag the 800 pound body with the thousand pound head around the place, looking for a comfy spot. Not happening. Had to send Renita out with the shopping list because I just couldn't gather up the strength or ambition to do it myself. I've read Augusten Burroughs' "Dry", and looking for something else to start on....in between naps of course. I'll feel better tomorrow. Living in paradise is still living in paradise, even though some rampant bug has decided to invade my body for a couple days, I'm sure I'll be back to new in no time.

I hear ya on the sickness sucks. I've had the ick for the past week and a half. Managed to survive christmas break and get sick the sunday before I had to go back to work! Nothing like being sick while trying to teach math and science. I hope you feel better soon- I can't imagine being sick in paradise! :)

Sorry to hear about that....my recommendation for the throat- get some orange jello (the dry mix in the box) then make a drink with it using hot water, and dose liberally with peppermint schnapps. Also for overall head and body aches, a very spicy bloody mary (or bloody ceasar) and drink this in a very hot bath or hot tub. This should cause a sweat to break out on your forehead if done right.

Guaranteed to do something.
